Improving Curb Appeal with Landscaping
Front-yard upgrades that boost curb appeal in an Arizona climate — from clean hardscape edges to the right planting palette.
Start with the edges
Curb appeal is mostly about edges. Crisp steel or masonry borders, a clean DG or paver path, and a defined line between beds and lawn (or turf) instantly make a front yard read as cared for. Overgrown, blurred edges do the opposite.
If you do one thing, clean the edges. It costs little and changes how the whole property reads from the street.
Frame the entrance
A pair of specimen plants — a saguaro, a paired agave, or an uplit palo verde — flanking the walk to the door creates a clear invitation. Landscape lighting along the path extends that welcome into the evening and adds depth after dark.
Keep the palette tight
A front yard with three or four repeated plant species looks designed and premium. A front yard with fifteen different plants looks busy and unplanned. Choose a small palette that thrives in your sun exposure and repeat it confidently.
